Committed to growing a socially responsible business, we take on an annual pro bono project to support our community.
Even as a small growing business, we believe in doing our part to create a positive impact in the community. So when we heard a call-out on Triple M radio for Brisbane electricians to help with a home renovation project for a special boy called Henry, we did not hesitate to offer our support for this family.
We’ve fondly come to refer to this as the ‘Henry Project’ and it has been one of the most rewarding pro bono projects we’ve undertaken. It often comes up in conversation among the team, and continues to give us all a strong sense of purpose because it is so close to our hearts.
The Henry Project saw us work with Triple M radio and a team of trades to renovate the home and make it wheelchair accessible, ensuring Henry could return home from hospital before Christmas. The tradesman and businesses involved all shared the same values and integrity, and united together to bring Henry home.
We asked Tilly Allard, Triple M Brand and Promotions Manager, to explain the story of how this all came about.
“Triple M put the call out to local Brisbane tradies to help us renovate the house of a 3 year old boy who had been put in hospital and lost the use of his legs, voice and needed to be on a ventilator 24/7. It was in dire need of upgrading to make it accessible for his wheelchair and special needs.
Kory and his team at Blackout Electrical Solutions put their hands up to help straight away, and delivered far beyond our expectations. There were not only friendly, knowledgeable and a delight to work with, but were on site every day for 3 weeks, free of charge. Kory thought of things even our project manager hadn’t to get the boy’s house ready for his return home from hospital.
I can honestly say that without the team at Blackout Electrical Solutions, we wouldn’t have been able to finish the house in time to bring the little boy home for Christmas.”
Our pro bono project for this year is to install a full security data installation at a childcare centre – we’ll share more once it is complete.
We’d like to thank our clients for choosing to work with us – without their support, we can’t do these important community projects! To see more goodwill projects like this and get insights from upcoming projects, subscribe below to receive news updates.
